The Volunteering Program

THE CLASSIC VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS!

Following the NEW regulations of the Israeli Interior Ministry KPC is excited to resume activities!!!
After over a year that the borders of Israel were closed for non-nationals, we are happy to announce today that due to positive results of the high vaccination rate in Israel, the interior office has finally approved a procedure for granting entry permits for our international
volunteer program!

With this, in addition to the usual requirements there is a new mandatory condition - a "vaccination obligation".
The Ministry of the Interior will approve a visa only for those who have been vaccinated for Covid-19 or will prove with a medical document  -
Certificate of recovery from Covid-19. (The certificate is valid only for six months)

After the Six-Day War in 1967, a wave of volunteers from all over the world began arriving in Israel. Their intentions were to show their goodwill towards the State of Israel and the Israeli People, by becoming kibbutz volunteers.

The notion of a kibbutz community carrying out the true principles of a socialistic society, having all work, property and profit equally shared by its members, intrigued the volunteers. The will to become part of this unique community grew stronger among the foreigners. Within short time, thousands of volunteers were arriving annually in Israel for the purpose of becoming kibbutz volunteers. Thus, the need for a department that could center all the organizational work surrounding the kibbutz volunteers was created.

Throughout the years, the Volunteers Department has gone through some evolutional stages. Today, the Kibbutz Program Center of the United Kibbutz Movement and the Kibbutz Haartzi is the office officially representing all the about 250 kibbutzes spread throughout the country of Israel. The Kibbutz Program Center is responsible for their volunteers, and provides them with any help they might need from the moment they arrive until they leave the kibbutz.

Since 1967 more than one hundred thousand kibbutz volunteers have arrived in Israel. Moreover, the number is still growing. As the volunteers contribute to the needs of the kibbutz, the kibbutz offers in return an exciting and unique working holiday experience. A holiday with the possibility to meet, live and work with both Israeli youngsters as well as with other kibbutz volunteers from countries and cultures from far and near

About the Program

PictureMake new friend woking in a Kibbutz
Our kibbutzim are happy to accept you as volunteers provided that:

1.  You have completed the application process including the program payment of $840.
2.  You come for a MINIMUM of 2 months and a MAXIMUM of 12 months (subject to the Kibbutz and the KPC approval).
3.  You are between the ages of 18 and 35 years
4.  You are in good mental and physical health

On a kibbutz, you will work eight hours a day, six days a week, and have three extra days off per month. You must be prepared to do any kind of work assigned to you by your manager. The work may be in agriculture, industry, tourism or kibbutz services. The kibbutz is a close-knit unit with self-supporting services; a large percentage of the volunteers work in these service areas. The choice of jobs available depends on the kibbutz, the season, the volunteer’s skills and the length of his/her stay.

The kibbutz provides rooms (two to three people per room). Main meals are eaten in the communal dining room; however, in some kibbutzim, volunteers are provided with a small kitchen, cooking facilities, and groceries to prepare food for themselves.  Laundry service is provided and volunteers receive monthly pocket money.
The kibbutz movement does not cover travelling expenses nor accept children/ expectant mothers.

When you register, we apply for your volunteer visa through the Ministry of Interior.  The visa is valid for three months. After three months in the Kibbutz, you may apply for an extension of your volunteer visa for an additional period of three months and with an additional payment. The extension of the visa is possible for every three months, up to 12 months. The renewal of the visa is subject to the decision of the volunteer coordinator. His/her decision is based on the behavior and performance of the volunteer during his stay in the Kibbutz.

Our health insurance is mandatory and especially designed for the volunteer program, covering all kinds of emergencies, i.e.:  need for medicine, hospitalization, ambulatory services, emergency room, etc. The insurance payment is valid for one year; however, the volunteer will have to report to the KPC office about any extended stay over the first 3 months, so we can take care of the extension of the insurance

The placement is in the same Kibbutz for the whole duration of the volunteering
